Scale Meta Controllers
This function introduces three new meta controllers that provide control over the scales in use.
Meta controllers are “instruments” that, rather than playing notes, set an aspect of another layers notes. This function adds three new meta controllers:
- Master Scale : This sets the TNR master scale based on the encountered note, i.e. overwrites the per-layer scale, to one from the first 16 fixed scales from Ionian to Whole Tone (See Per layer scales for the whole list). This controller sets the layer scale of all 16 layers.
- Layer Scale : Rather than set the master scale (i.e. all layers), this just sets the scale of the layer targetted by the meta controller, as defined in the Layers “Target Layer” menu item. This controller sets the layer scale of 1 layer only.
- Scale Group : This copies the scale selected by the note (Ionian etc.) into the User scale group (Scale 1, 2, 3 etc.) as defined in the Layers “Target User Scale” menu item. By setting some layers to User Scale 1, for example, this provides a midway point between the Master Scale meta - which changes ALL layers - and the Layer Scale meta - which only changes one layer.
In all cases, the scale to use is indicated by the “note”. For example, in score mode, the lowest LED on the grid corresponds to Ionian, and the highest LED on the grid corresponds to Whole Tone.
Meta controllers are selected via changing the layer operation in the layer menu.
