File versions
From release A040 onwards, files created by earlier versions of the firmware, including the Yamaha stock firmware, are correctly read.
In order to include the additional features, the alternative firmware makes certain changes to internal data structures, which results in the data in old files (song files, blocks files, etc.) being misinterpreted. For example, the instrument choice, layer octave, and so on.
From release A040 onwards, old files are correctly decoded and interpreted into the new data structures. Files created with new releases are now tagged with a file version number, that (hopefully) permits future compatibility to be maintained.
The file version of the last loaded file can be seen in the menu item “Version check”. File version 0000 indicates an older standard Yamaha type file, higher numbers indicate files created with the new firmware. Note that the internal stored files used by the interior menu (alarm, chime, demo) are also version 0000.
